The First Meeting of the Supervisory Committee of the Arab Academy Scientific Research Award Held Under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Minister for Scientific Research at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research

In a significant step toward supporting scientific research and encouraging researchers and innovators, the first meeting of the Supervisory Committee of the Arab Academy Scientific Research Award (First Edition – 2024) was held on Tuesday, 22 October 2024, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tuwaiji, Deputy Minister for Scientific Research at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and attended by a number of university professors, experts, representatives of the Arab Academy for Management, Banking and Financial Sciences, and the Cooperative and Agricultural Credit Bank (CAC Bank).

The meeting discussed the agenda items, including the formation of the Scientific Committee, which was approved under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Saqqaf, along with several academic experts in the fields related to the award. The committee also reviewed and approved the award guidelines, in addition to examining and adopting the official evaluation forms for submitted research papers after incorporating the proposed observations and feedback.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tuwaiji, Deputy Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasized the importance of this award in supporting scientific research and encouraging researchers, thereby enhancing Yemen’s position on the global scientific map. He noted that the award will contribute to creating a stimulating environment for creativity and innovation. He also expressed his appreciation to the Arab Academy for its efforts in supporting scientific research, as well as to the Cooperative and Agricultural Credit Bank for funding the award.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Murad Al-Nashmi, Director of the Yemen Branch of the Arab Academy, stated that the award represents a culmination of the Academy’s efforts in supporting scientific research, stressing that the Academy is keen—through the Supervisory Committee—to establish precise standards for evaluating submitted research and ensuring transparency in the arbitration process.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mohammed Abu Hatem, Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank and its representative in the committee, stated that the Cooperative and Agricultural Credit Bank is always committed to playing an active role in achieving sustainable development goals, and that its support for the Arab Academy Award comes within this strategic direction.

The meeting concluded with a set of decisions related to the agenda items.
