Director of the Academy's Yemen Branch and Dean of the College in Aden Participate in the Workshop Launching the Higher Education and Scientific Research Strategy 2025–2027
Prof. Dr. Murad Mohammed Al-Nashmi, Director of the Yemen Branch of the Arab Academy for Management, Banking and Financial Sciences, together with Prof. Dr. Abdulqader Mohammed Al-Abbadi, Dean of the College – Aden, participated in the workshop marking the launch of the Higher Education and Scientific Research Strategy 2025–2027. The workshop was inaugurated by H.E. Prof. Dr. Khaled Ahmed Al-Wasabi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training, on Thursday, 9 January 2025, in Aden, under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak, Prime Minister.
The Director of the Academy's Yemen Branch and the Dean of the College participated in their capacity as members of the Higher Committee for Preparing the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's Strategic Plan 2025–2027.
During the launch event, Prof. Dr. Murad Al-Nashmi presented a working paper outlining the planning methodology adopted by the committee. He also reviewed a number of international best practices in higher education strategic planning, in addition to the key components of the strategic analysis. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Abdulqader Al-Abbadi.
In his opening remarks, Minister Al-Wasabi stated that, with the beginning of 2025, the Ministry is entering a new phase focused on strategic planning despite the current challenges. He noted that the Ministry has successfully built a qualified workforce across its various sectors, established a comprehensive database from the ground up, and founded new universities in the liberated governorates in accordance with legal standards.
For his part, Dr. Jameel Abdulwahid, Deputy Minister for Planning and Policies and Chairman of the Higher Committee responsible for preparing the strategy, explained that the Ministry is embarking on a new chapter characterized by ambition and a strategic vision aimed at reshaping the future of higher education in Yemen in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The launch ceremony was attended by Dr. Abdulnasser Al-Wali, Minister of Civil Service and Insurance, deputy ministers, presidents of public and private universities, directors general, experts, and academics. The event was funded by the Tawasul Foundation for Development.
